Educational Scholarships
The Micka scholarship was established in 1985 in honor of Edward Micka, Executive Director of Friendly House from 1953 - 1985. It was established for adults who want to further their education and improve their opportunity for employment.
Requirements:
The Ivory/Optimist Scholarship was created for graduating seniors from the Davenport School District who wish to continue their education. It was established in honor of Frank Ivory, Executive Director of Friendly House from 1985 - 1997 and in partnership with the Davenport Noon Optimist Club.
Requirements:
Students must be full time residents of Davenport for the past three years
Planning to attend an accredited trade, vocational, secondary school, college or university
The Levy Educational Scholarship is an annual scholarship named in honor of Mort and Tish Levy. Mort and Tish Levy were longtime members of the Davenport community. Mort served on the Friendly House board and was a well known business person in the community. His wife Tish was an accomplished artist. Together they demonstrated their love and care for their community throughout their lifetime in many philanthropic endeavors. Their family has now chosen to recognize this legacy of care with two annual $1,000 scholarships. It is their hope that the recipient of this scholarship will use the opportunity for advanced education to develop new skills that can be used to make Davenport a better community.
Requirements:
Scholarships may be used for tuition, books, supplies and maintenance expenses. Preference is given to students who have current or past affiliation with Friendly House.
