Are you a home day care provider who serves meals and snacks to your day care children? How would you like to get reimbursed for part of the cost of those meals?
The Child and Adult Care Food Program gives cash reimbursement to providers for up to two meals and one snack per child per day. Providers are given guidelines for nutritious meals and snacks which encourages healthy eating habits. Training is regularly offered to help providers learn about child nutrition, human development and how to create a pleasant mealtime environment. The training offered at Friendly House is held on-site and is free. Childcare can also be provided upon request. The program is funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and administered by the State Board of Education. We serve the following counties: Cedar, Clinton, Muscatine and Scott. Other program benefits include workshops, newsletters, recipes and activities, and inclusion in any Friendly House programs, events and activities.
To become a CACFP participant:
Your day care must be registered with the State of Iowa. Providers of all income levels may participate. Day care may be full or part time. You must be sponsored by a state approved agency, such as Friendly House. We are now using the premiere CACFP on-line claiming application called "Minute Menu". Preparing and submitting menu claims will be faster and easier than ever! Want to go completely online and submit menus over the Internet? Minute Menu can do it. Check out the Minute Menu website for more information or sample an online demo - follow these steps:
- Click on “current providers” on the left hand side.
- Type “996000991” for the login and “temporar” for the password.
- Then click on “submit” and then “open WebKids”.
Keep in mind this is a sample account for providers across the nation. This account can give you an idea of how WebKids works, but can be busy at times. To get started with Minute Menu, contact Lisa.
